Executive Information Systems and
Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) are an
important tool of information technology that allow policy makers who
are frequently inexperienced in computer and data technology to access
information to facilitate decision making.
Currently Health Information Solutions supports the construction of
Graphical User Interfaces and Executive Information Systems using
SAS/AF and
SAS/EIS.
We have developed the PC-Interface for the
Improved Perinatal Outcome Data Reports (IPODR) System.
IPODR is based on information derived from the California Birth/Death
Vital Statistics, 1990 United States Census, California Department
of Finance and Hospital Discharge data. These data sources are
organized into a ZIP code level data warehouse. Risk factors and
health status assessment measures are available for the California
population, for California counties, or for California ZIP codes.
Furthermore, all vital statistics data are not only tabulated for all
births combined, but separate tabulations can be obtained by maternal
age and race/ethnicity. Except for the 1990 census data, all data
sources are currently available for years 1989 to 2001.
IPODR's Graphical User Interface will guide users through the data
extraction and manipulation process, and
the generation of customized reports. All data extracted can be stored
as a DBase or Excel file.
Information provided by IPODR can be used to monitor the progress
towards the Healthy
People 2000 National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention
Objectives at the subcounty level. As of the year 2001, IPODR has been updated
to monitor progress towards the Healthy People 2010 Objectives.
Besides IPODR, we have built numerous utility GUIs. The most important
GUI, we have built allows probabilistic record linkages. Click
here, for more information on record linkages.
